Our products are made from certified sustainable, concentrated Wild Alaskan Fish Oil, caught by American fishermen and concentrated by American workers at our family owned & operated plant in eastern Ohio.
Most fish oil supplements sold in the U.S. are produced from Peruvian Anchovy Oil, caught in South America. The entire catch is ground up and rendered into oil and fishmeal (what is called a reduction fishery). The fishmeal is fed to farmed salmon, and the oils are used for paints, lubricants, leather tanning, or dietary supplements. Not our fish oil! Our oils are recovered from the eyes, heads, and livers of wild fresh fish caught for human consumption.
All of our fish oils are sourced from USA wild caught fish, caught by US registered vessels in American waters. Typically, about 95% or more of our fish oil is from Alaska Pollock and about 5% or less of our fish oil is from Pacific Whiting. Alaska Pollock is considered to be the most well-managed, large-scale fishery in the world.
Alaska Pollock (TheragraChalcogramma), also known as Walleye Pollock, is a short-lived species of wild, coldwater fish. Pollock is a member of the cod family Gadidae. Our Alaska Pollock oil is sourced entirely from the Eastern Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska populations solely found within U.S. waters.
Pacific Whiting, also known as North Pacific hake, is a member of the family Merluccius. Our Pacific Whiting comes from an MSC-certified, U.S. wild capture fishery along the Oregon and Washington coast. Pacific Whiting is a minor component of some our products.

Alaska Pollock and Pacific Whiting come from well-managed fisheries with a high level of scrutiny and good management by the National Marine Fisheries Service, a division of NOAA. Both fish are certified sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), the gold standard for independent third-party verification of good fisheries management. Alaska Pollock fisheries are considered to be the gold standard for well-managed, wild-capture fisheries.
The MSC is an independent non-profit organization that sets a standard for sustainable fishing. Fisheries that wish to demonstrate they are well-managed according to the science-based MSC standard are assessed by expert auditors who are independent of both the fishery and the MSC. Seafood products may display the blue MSC eco-label only if that seafood can be traced back through the supply chain to a fishery that has been certified against the MSC standard.
Unlike many other sources of fish oil, Alaska Pollock are caught for human consumption. Fresh fish are filleted onboard factory vessels or at shore plants within hours of the catch. The filets are quickly frozen and the oil is extracted.
Our fish oils are shipped from Alaska to our FDA registered manufacturing facility in Ohio in airtight oxygen barrier containers. We combine the fish oil with food grade ethanol to make fatty acid ethyl esters. This allows Omega-3 fatty acids to be separated from saturated fatty acids that we don’t want.

Molecular Distillation is a sophisticated processing technique used to remove low molecular weight compounds from high molecular weight compounds. Extremely high vacuum and very short exposure to heat allows us to carefully remove persistent organic pollutants (like PCBs and heavy metals) but avoid damaging any of the delicate Omega-3 EPA & DHA fatty acids.
There are several ways we carefully process fish oils to remove environmental contaminants. First, we use wild-caught Alaskan fish oil (which already has extremely low levels of pollution due to the isolation of the Bering Sea watershed). Second, we carefully molecularly distill the oils to remove PCBs, pesticides, and mercury. Third, all of our oil is slow filtered through activated charcoal to move other pollutants like furans, dioxins, and arsenic. Our products are virtually unmatched by any other fish oil ingredient in the world for purity.
Dietary Supplements are regulated by the FDA as a subset of foods under a 1993 law called DSHEA. Just like foods, the FDA inspects manufacturing facilities and regulates our industry. However, since our products are dietary supplements (not drugs), they do not require FDA approval to market and sell, just like a barbecue sauce, cracker, pickles, potato chip, salad dressing or many other hundreds of thousands of food products made in the US by small businesses.

Many people refrigerate their fish oil softgels or liquid oils and it is perfectly OK to do so. A great tip is to put your fish oil and other vitamins in the fridge; when you open up the fridge for a snack you’ll remember to take your vitamins and stay healthy.

However, all EPA & DHA Omega-3 products made from fish oil, krill, and algae taste and smell like fish, so some extremely sensitive palates may detect a mild fresh fish taste and odor, even in our products. When EPA & DHA Omega-3s oxidize, they break down into compounds that smell fishy. A good rule of thumb for a fish oil product is to apply the same standard you would for fresh fish from the grocery store or sushi restaurant: if it smells or tastes extremely fishy and unpleasant, don’t consume it. The primary concern with giving fish oil pills to young children is that pills can be a choking hazard.
